Eni plans drilling campaign in Bukat block late this year

Italian oil firm Eni SpA plans to continue drilling campaign in deep water Bukat exploration block, East Kalimantan in the last quarter of this year.

The company said in a rig re-bidding announcement posted Friday that the drilling would take between Q4 2006 until Q2 2007 or 6 months later than original schedule.

The company did not say the number of wells it wanted to drill, but earlier announcement said five.

Eni is the operator and 55 percent interest holder of Bukat block with Chevron holds the remaining balance.

The block lies near the disputed Ambalat block, which is being disputed by Indonesia and Malaysia.

The block?s partnership had earlier drilled 3 exploratory wells in the block, which indicated hydrocarbon shows.(alex)
