Italian firm Eni Spa is preparing to carry out a 3D seismic survey on onshore/offshore 314 sq km area in Arguni I PSC, West Papua, according to upstream authority SKK Migas.
?At present, the firm is doing operational preparations (mobilization, demobilization and topographic survey preparations). The seismic survey is scheduled to begin later this month and will take 60 days to complete,? Ngatijan, Head of Survey and Exploration Drilling Division at SKK Migas, told Petromindo.com.
Eni was awarded a 100 percent interest in the Arguni I PSC (5,386 sq. km), located onshore and offshore in the Bintuni Basin, West Papua in November 2011. The block is 10 km east of the Tangguh LNG processing facility. Under the contract, the firm has to acquire 2D and 3D seismic and drill two wells during the first 3 years of exploration.
