Eni to drill Aceh block 2008

Italian oil firm Eni SpA is will resume drilling at its Aceh block next year, a BPMIGAS official said on Thursday.

BPMIGAS Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations Dodi Hidayat told Petromindo.Com that Eni would drill at least two exploration well in Krueng Mane block next year.

Eni in its Limited Tender Announcement to search for drilling rig published on national media on Thursday said it would drill four wells from the second quarter to the fourth quarter of next year .

Krueng Mane exploration block, which was signed in September 1999, is located approximately 50 km north of the Arun LNG plant. ENI has currently 100 percent interest in the block, but South Korean firm KOGAS is reportedly in the process of acquiring 15 percent stake at the block.

Krueng Mane block has proven undeveloped reserves of 183 billion cubic feet within the JAU Field and exploration potential of at least 4.5 trillion cubic feet reserves in the three main prospects (BSN, Safir & Emerald). (godang/alex)
