EPC projects in Cepu started

The signing of the agreements was witnessed by Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik, oil and gas upstream regulator BPMigas Chairman R. Priyono, and the state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina President Director Karen Agustiawan, highlighting the groundbreaking ceremony of the Banyu Urip Project
"Mobil Cepu Ltd. started the Banyu Urip Project with 5 EPC contracts. Today we start the projects with a groundbreaking ceremony," Mobil Cepu Ltd. President Director Terry McQuil said when addressing the groundbreaking ceremony in Bojonegoro, on Tuesday.
The project, he said, would benefit Bojonegoro and Indonesia as a whole.
BPMigas Head R. Priyono said that the EPC 1 must be implemented in the best possible way. "I witnessed the signing of EPC 1 to 5. This is encouraging for us. We're inspired to prioritize the national interest by prioritizing our national companies to implement the Banyu Urip project," he said.
He pointed out that the project would increase Indonesia's oil and gas production. Currently, BPMigas manages 12 projects until 2016 and only 2 that produce oil, while the rest produces gas.
He promised all the workers of Banyu Urip Project that after finalizing the project they would be employed by other oil and gas projects in Indonesia.
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik stated that one of the orders he got from President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono when appointed as minister at recent cabinet reshuffle was that he should push for the realization of Banyu Urip project before Dec. 31 this year.
"This is an initial achievement in our efforts of realizing the big project in Bojonegoro. The project development is for public welfare of Indonesian people," he said. (Godang)
