EPC works at Banyu Urip progressing quite well

Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Susilo Siswoutomo said that despite a few small problems, the EPC works at the Banyu Urip field within the Cepu block in the border areas of Central and East Java have been progressing quite well.

He appealed for supports from all parties so that the project could be completed in the third quarter of 2014 as targeted.

?The progress is quite good. There are certain parts were improvement is needed particularly the EPC-1 by Tripartra group and Samsung. They need to increase the number of workers. Currently there are about 3,000 (workers), while the ideal number is about 4,000,? Susilo said.

Without providing details, he acknowledged that there are also some small problems affecting other EPC works, but generally they are progressing quite well, and on track to meet the deadline.

The upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas warned last month the EPC-1 to EPC-5 work are behind schedule. Head of Project Management Division at SKK Migas, Rudi Riambono said on October 23 that his office was studying what the causes were.

The Banyu Urip development is divided into five phases:
1. EPC-1 for Production Facilities Processing worth $ 746.3 million
2. EPC-2 for the EPC Offshore Pipeline Facilities (72km): $ 60 million
3. EPC-3 for the EPC Offshore Pipeline Facilities (23km) and Mooring Tower: $ 120 million
4. EPC-4 for FSO (Floating Storage and Offloading): $ 300 million
5. EPC-5 for Infrastructure Facilities: $ 95 million.
