Ephindo, Indian consortium awarded Kalimantan CBM blocks

The Melak-Mendung I block is awarded to CBM developer PT Energi Pasir Hitam Indonesia (Ephindo), which already controls several CBM blocks in Kalimantan and Sumatra.
The Melak-Mendung III block is awarded to an Indian consortium whose members consist of Deep Industries Limited and Monnet Ispat & Energy Limited.
Ephindo will pay signing bonus of US$1.75 million with G&G commitment of 500,000 and four core-hole drill worth $ 5.6 million. The Indian consortium will pay signing bonus of $1.51 million and will spend $600,000 on G$G and $4 million to drill 10 core holes.
The blocks awarded are part of the 2010 CBM regular bidding round where 7 blocks in Sumatra and Kalimantan were offered. Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Evita Legowo said that five of the blocks failed to produce winner due to lack of interest from investors.
The government also offered 6 CBM blocks under direct offer mechanism in 2010. Evita said that the winners of the direct offer blocks will be announced and signed on July 25, 2011 together with winners from regular tender. (godang)
