ESCAP energy meeting on Nov 21-24 in Bali

The government in cooperation with the Economic and Social Commission for Asia Pacific (ESCAP) will hold a high level regional meeting on energy for sustainable development on November 21-24, 2000 in the resort island of Bali, according to a statement issued by the ministry of mineral resources and energy.

The statement said that the meeting was expected to come up with a political consensus for the Asia Pacific region on the efforts to improve cooperation in resolving the problem of access into energy resources and the sustainable use of energy.

The result of the meeting would be followed up at the global level by the United Nations at the ninth ministerial meeting of the commission on sustainable development (CSD) in New York on November 24.

The meeting in Bali would be attended by representatives from 67 nations/ESCAP members.

On November 23, Indonesia and Australia would also hold a parallel gathering of around 100 prominent energy in investors in the Asia Pacific region (amoros)
