Essar eyeing Indonesian coal mining firm

Indian giant The Essar Group said on Wednesday that it would import coal to supply the purposed 1,200 megawatt power plant at Jamnagar in Gujarat state, the company official said.

 

Managing director of the company A K Srivastava said that the power plant will be coal-based and negotiations are under way for importing coal .

 

Essar is keen to strike a strategic deal by picking up to 10 percent stake in an Indonesian coal company. The project will need nearly 3 million tons of coal a year, he said as quoted by Business Standard of India. (*)
