Essar Indonesia to increase steel output

Steel maker PT Essar Indonesia, a local subsidiary of India?s Essar Steel, plans to increase the production capacity of its cold rolled coil (CRC) at its steel plant in Cikarang, West Java, to anticipate rising demand from the automotive and infrastructure sectors, Kontan reported on Wednesday.
The paper quoted Essar Indonesia CEO Dattatreya Tembhekar as saying that his company will increase the production capacity of CRC to 225,000 tons per year from the current 200,000 tons. He did not disclose the size of investment to be made for the expansion. The company has obtained US$10 million to help finance capital expenditure.
Essar Indonesia currently operates steel plant in Cikarang with combined annual production capacity of 400,000 tons, producing CRC and light steel products. (*)
