Evita retires as oil and gas director general

Evita H.Legowo will be retiring from her position as oil and gas director general at the energy and mineral resources ministry starting from Saturday (December 1, 2012).

?This is my last day as a civil servant with the ministry of energy and mineral resources. Tomorrow, I?ll be retiring,? Evita told Petromindo.com on Friday (November 30, 2012).

Asked to give a comment on her retirement, she said, ?Whoever replacing me, I hope the oil and gas production can be maintained.?

But so far, there has been no announcement on who will replace her as director general of oil and gas.

This (Friday) afternoon (16.00 pm) Evita will attend a farewell ceremony organized by the directorate general of oil and gas on the 15th floor of Plaza Centris.

"We?re really very grateful for what she had done in supporting PLN, particularly in getting gas for our power plants,? state utility PT PLN?s Fuel Oil and Gas Division Head M.Suryadi Mardjoeki told Petromindo.com in Jakarta on Friday.

He mentioned the gas from coal bed methane (CBM) that had been used to generate power, although still in small amount, the LNG from Tangguh, and the operation of FSRU in Jakarta bay. ?I think these are big and spectacular accomplishments," he said.

He said that whoever will replace Evita, PLN hopes that he or she will maintain the current cooperation with PLN. ?We hope the new director general will support our efforts of getting gas supply for our power plants. Such efforts will affect the electricity subsidy,? he added.

Medco Energy International President Director Lukman Mahfoedz said that all players in the oil and gas industry saw Evita as an official who has played a big role in developing the industry.

?She is a typical leader who comes up to deal with difficult problems, creating a breakthrough in order to solve the problems. The oil and gas players should be very grateful having had her as the director general of oil and gas,? he said.
