ASX-listed energy firm Energy World Corporation Limited (EWC) said on Friday that the 60-MW Sengkang gas turbine unit at its 195-MW Sengkang combined cycle power plant in South Sulawesi has returned to normal operation.

?Repairs to the Sengkang 60-MW gas turbine unit have now been completed and the unit has been undergoing final performance testing during the past few days. As part of this process, the unit has already been successfully run up to and achieved its capacity output of 60MW,? the company said in statement.

Siemens Engineers are undertaking final testing during the course of today and tomorrow and the plan is now to bring the unit back to full commercial operation over the forthcoming week-end, 13-14 February 2010, it said.

The unit had temporarily stopped operating since November of last year. The firm however did not specify the problems that had caused it to suspend the operation of the power unit.

EWC has 95 percent stake in Sengkang Power Plant. (denny)
