EWC says Sengkang LNG plant to start operations in 2013

The company is developing a 2 MTPA modular LNG liquefaction unit, comprising four 0.5MTPA modular units.
The company revealed in a presentation released on Thursday that additional LNG units will roll out every three months after the first unit has started operations.
The company said that site for the project has been acquired in Keera, Wajo regency and major equipments and early lead items has been purchased and currently arranging for shipment to Indonesia .
Gas for the LNG plant will come from Sengkang PSC, which is operated by the company.
The company also said it will fully develop gas potential from Sengkang PSC through three-phase development strategy. The first phase will involve full development of the existing Kampung Baru gas field to provide secure supply to Sengkang power plant IPP, which is also 95 percent owned by the company. The IPP is currently operating at 195 MW and is in the process of being expanded to 315 MW.
The second phase, (EWC) will develop the discovered but non-producing field. ?This would provide proven reserves of gas for our modular LNG project,? the company said.
Phase three will involve exploration and development of the remainder of the PSC with prospective resources of 5-7 TCF. Drilling program is expected to commence in 2012, the company said.
?EWC is planning to develop the PSC to its full potential in order to supply LNG to domestic and international markets (up to 5 MTPA) using our modular LNG technology,? the company said.
Sengkang PSC contract will expire in 2022.
Unlike conventional LNG, the EWC?s modular LNG technology requires significantly lower capital cost and faster construction, requires much lower gas reserves, can be be easily relocated and expanded, the company claimed. (alex)
