EWP eyeing more power project in Indonesia

Indonesia-listed coal mining firm PT Adaro Energy Tbk said that it would collaborate with Korean utility firm Korea East-West Power Co Ltd (EWP) in the independent power producer (IPP) tender of 2x100 MW South Kalimantan coal-fired power plant, Investor Daily reported Monday.

Adaro Energy?s director Andre Mamuaya said that Adaro collaborates with EWP, after its previous partner Japanese firm Mitsui Co Ltd pulled out from the tender.

According to him, the company has submitted bid proposal to state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) on May 18. The proposal is expected to be announced in next 1-2 months, he said.

He said that the company and EWP have not talked regarding stake composition in the project

In August 2010, PT Bakrie Power announced it partnered with EWP in its bid to win the tender to build a steam-fired power plant in Bontang, East Kalimantan which will generate 2 x 100MW. The project is estimated to cost between US$300 and $350 million. (*)
