The former employee of coal mining firm PT Arutmin Indonesia Agus Suswanto (27) has become a fugitive after the court sentenced him 7-month in jail over a corruption case, the local Kaltim Post daily reported on Tuesday.

The paper quoted local prosecutor M. Sinaga as saying that Agus had run away even before the court made its ruling.

"Agus is now a fugitive. We have asked for the help of the police to find him," Sinaga said.

Agus was a former transportation staff at Arutmin. He had been accused of making false report to his superiors causing Arutmin to pay around Rp 4 billion (US$1=Rp 9,600) in excess fee to a local supplier.

The court process for the corruption case has been going on for months, and three other people are being taken to the court for their alleged role. (*)
