Ex-Vico employees demand higher compensation payment

Hundreds of former employees of oil company Vico Indonesia in Kutai Kartanegara regency, East Kalimantan demanded a higher compensation payment from the company, Kaltim Post daily reported on Thursday.

During a meeting with the company's executives and senior officials of the local manpower office, the former workers through their lawyer said that the compensation formula made by the company should be changed because formulation was not based on the existing manpower regulation. As a result, their compensation they got was far lower than what was stipulated by the existing regulation.

The local manpower office received the complaint and promised to further discuss the possibility of making a new compensation formula with Vico Indonesia, which recently laid out 286 of its workers. (*)
