Experts to investigate Freeport?s accident

The government is sending a team of five experts to investigate the accident at PT Freeport Indonesia?s mine in Grasberg that fatally killed three workers.
Director General of mineral and coal Witoro S said on Thursday that the team including one mine inspector, one geologist would depart ?this evening?.
A mud/top soil slide occurred from a mountain ridge above service facilities supporting Freeport?s mining operations at 1 a.m. local time. The material damaged a mess hall and adjacent area and killed three contract workers and injured four workers, Freeport said in a press statement on Friday.
?The event did not directly involve operations within the Grasberg mine or PT-FI?s milling operations,? The company said. (Godang)
