Indonesia-listed coal trader and power firm PT Exploitasi Energi Indonesia Tbk (EEI), formerly PT Central Korporindo International, plans to sell 2.9 million tonnes of coal this year, mostly on the domestic market, the company?s director said on Friday.

EEI?s director Jansen Surbakti said the company has started coal supply to state electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) this year under a 5-year contract obliging EEI to supply a total of 1.5 million tonnes a year. ?Up till now, we have sold around 500,000 tonnes to PLN,? he said.

The company has also a long-term contract with the Suralaya power plant owned by PT Indonesia Power (IP), a unit of PLN, valid from 2005 through 2012 to supply a million ton per year.

According to him, the company sold the coal to PLN and IP for Rp 500,000-750,000 per tonne.

Aside from domestic market, EEI also plan to sell around 100,000-200,000 tonnes of coal to overseas market including India and China, he added without giving details.
