ASX-listed firm Indus Coal Limited announced on Thursday that 6 drilling rigs have been mobilized to Block 9 of the Jambi Coal Project and a 9,100 meter core drilling program has commenced.
The drilling program has also been expanded to 91 holes, it said in an update report.
It added coal outcrop mapping across Block 9 has identified 19 outcrops in total. The most significant of these is a 9-12m thick vertical outcropping seam over a strike length of 4.5km x 1.5km wide (Coal Seam A).
The initial drilling program is concentrated on three SW-NE section lines. Drilling has begun using six Jacro 200 machines on cross-section lines 5 and 12 using full HQ coring.
The first coal seam samples have been recovered from holes DH037, DH046, DH030 and DH053. Drill hole DH030 intersected Coal Seam A (approximately 13.9m thick) and Coal Seam B(about 1.6m thick) as well as four further seams below Coal Seam B varying in thickness from 0.45m to 2.27m.
All coal seam core intervals have been sent to the Geoservices Laboratory, Padang, Sumatra for Proximate Analysis, Hardgrove Index testing and Relative Density.
The results are not yet returned, therefore these data sets are only preliminary and do not signify economic viability.
