Australian explosive maker Orica Limited reported on Monday that its ammonium nitrate plant in Bontang, East Kalimantan will start production in the first half of 2012.
Physical construction is now over 80% complete and the cost of the project is expected to be well below initial estimates, the company said.
The plant is expected to be up and running by December and at full capacity by 2013.
The Bontang plant will have capacity to produce 300,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate annually.
Orica has 51 percent stake in the plant. (alex)
