Exspan builds water treatment plant for Muba regency

PT Exspan Nusantara, a unit of publicly listed PT. Medco Energi International, has built a power treatment plant and hospital facilities in Musi Banyuasin (Muba) regency in South Sumatra as part of its community development plan, a company official said on Monday.

Company public relations manager Aditya Mandala said the water treatment plant which was built at total cost of about Rp 2.33 billion and facilities at the RSUD public hospital worth Rp 198.66 million had been officially handed over to the regency administration on Sunday through Muba regent Alex Noerdin.

The regent said that the company?s assistance was inline with the local administration?s program to improve the economy of the people particularly those living near oil and gas exploration activities.

According to the regent, the company?s success during more than 10 years of is presence in the area should have also been followed by the improvement of the welfare of the residents near its production sites.

Exspan Nusantara?s president Nahir Basuni said that the assistance in the form of the water treatment and hospital facilities reflected the company?s strong commitment in improving the economy of the local people. Exspan allocated US$ 1.5 million for community development this year, a 50 percent increase compared to last year?s budget allocation. (godang)
