Oil and gas firm PT Exspan which operates in East Kalimantan province has been strongly criticized once again for not prioritizing local people in its employee recruitment policy, according to the local Kaltim Post daily.

An organization called the forum of sons and daughters of retired employees of the state owned oil and gas firm Pertamina reported that there were around 130 university graduates 15 of them majoring in mining in the Sangasanga district, but not one of them had been employed by Exspan.

The forum accused Exspan of preferring outside resources for its staffs.

The complaint was made by the forum?s head Rusdiansyah during a meeting Tuesday with Kutai Kertanegara Regent Syaukani HR.

Syaukani promised his administration would study the case.

He reminded companies operating in the regency to put a high priority in recruiting local people or would risk sanction including the withdrawal of their business license.(*)
