Exspan succeeds extinguishing fire at E. Kalimantan well

Oil and gas producer Exspan Nusantara has succeeded to put off fire at an old oil well in its Tarakan production sharing contract area in East Kalimantan which blew out and caught fire on Monday, company spokesman Aditya Mandala told Petromindo.com on Tuesday.

?Exspan succeeded to extinguish the fire at around nine last night,? Aditya said.

Aditya said six people including five workers of Exspan had been injured in the accident.

He said however the company?s workers were continuing to inject mud into the oil well to stop gas from spurting out of it.

Exspan is a unit of publicly listed oil and gas firm PT. Medco Energi International Tbk. (Godang)
