Oil producer PT Exspan Tomori Sulawesi (ETS), a subsidiary of Medco Energi International Tbk, will in June bring into production its Tiaka oil field offshore Banggai in Central Sulawesi, Antara news service reported Tuesday.

?Initial production will be around 6,500 barrels per day,? ETS? general manager Tri Siwindono was quoted as saying recently.

Tiaka is located in Senoro-Toili Joint Operating Body (JOB) area offshore Central Sulawesi where huge gas reserves had also been discovered.

In late 1990s, the Indonesian government appointed state oil and gas firm Pertamina and Arco to operate the JOB area. Later, Exspan acquired Arco?s interest in the oil field. (*)
