ExxonMobil Corp has no plans yet to move its workers out from the troubled Aceh province despite threat from the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) guerillas, the Neraca daily reported on Monday.
"We have no plans yet to move our employees out from Aceh," company spokesperson Deva Rachman told the paper last week.
GAM earlier threatened to attack key facilities in Aceh if the Indonesian Military launches a strike against them.
Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Purnomo Yusgiantoro said last week that there was no reason for Exxon to shut down its operation in Aceh as the security for the company was already sufficient.
He added that Exxon is a national asset and thus there must be maximum security to protect the company's operation in Aceh.(*)
