ExxonMobil?s 400 workers said that they felt restless because the company has not yet recalled them to work although the gas production at the company?s fields has almost returned to a normal level, Kompas reported on Saturday.

The workers, mostly drivers, were laid off following the closure of the company?s gas fields in March. They said that they only received their basic salary of between Rp 500,000 and Rp 600,000 a month during their resting period.

According to them, in normal condition, they received total income of between Rp 1.5 million and Rp 2 million including overtime pay.

?We don?t have a side job, the salary we received during the rest is no longer enough to support the family, a driver Marzuki told Kompas. He said that if the layoff period continues, the workers would suffer more. (*)
