"The management of ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia Inc. (EMOI) and its affiliates place the highest priority on the security and safety of its people. Accordingly, management continues to review the security situation in Indonesia and is currently putting measures in place to heighten security awareness," said EMOI spokesperson Deva Rachman.
ExxonMobil operates Arun giant gas field in the troubled province of Aceh with output of around 1.6 billion standard cubic feet per day. Arun gas fields feed the entire need of Arun natural gas liquefaction complex, which exports LNG to Japan, Korea and Taiwan.
Deva, however, did not say if there were already increasing security personnel present in its already tightly-guarded gas complex.
Indonesian and the US had warned that US and British energy projects in Indonesia might be the next target of terrosrist attack after Bali bomb blasts that claimed 180 lives Saturday. (alex)
