US supermajor ExxonMobil Corp.is offering to farm out half of its 80 percent stake at Surumana deepwater block in the Makassar Straits, according to Indigopool, a Global Acquisition and Divestiture Services run by Schlumberger.
One of several drill-ready prospects with multi-billion BOE potential will be tested in the fourth quarter of 2011 by the seasoned semi-sub West Aquarius, the website says. The primary play is defined by Tertiary carbonate build-ups deposited on extensional continental fault blocks.
Exxon has drilled one well called Rangkong in Surumana in 2009.
Malaysian firm Petronas has the remaining 20 percent interest in the block.
Exxon also operates Mandar exploration block which is located adjacent to Surumana with 80 percent interest. (alex)
