ExxonMobil Indonesia ascertained that it will continue to make investment in Aceh after deciding to cancel earlier plans to sell its existing assets in the province.

?Until today, for the Aceh region, Exxon will continue production at its existing fields,? ExxonMobil Indonesia Vice President for Exploration and External Relations, Asep Sulaiman told Petromindo.com Tuesday.

He added that investment activities for next year will be contained in the 2013 work and budget plan, which is currently still being discussed.

Asep said that Exxon will optimize and ensure efficiency of its operations in Aceh. ?Going forward, Exxon will continue its operations (in Aceh) just like now, there are no changes.?

The company announced in August of last year of its plan of selling the assets in Aceh after operating since 1970s. The assets include the Arun field and Arun satellite fields, and the North Sumatra Offshore field. The Arun field is the supplier of gas to the Arun LNG plant

Widiyawan Prawiraatmadja, Deputy for Planning at BPMIGAS, the upstream oil and gas authority, was surprised to learn that Exxon was canceling its Aceh asset sale plan. ?This means that they did not find suitable buyers for the assets,? he told Petromindo.com.
