Exxon sees Banyu Urip project start up around year-end

US energy giant Exxon Mobil Corp. reported that the The Banyu Urip project in Cepu Block onshore East Java is now 87% complete.

VP Investor Relations and Secretary David Rosenthal said as quoted in a quarterly results transcript issued by SK Transcipts on May 1, 2014 that start up is expected around year end.

The project will deliver 450 million barrels of oil through an onshore central processing facility with a 165,000 barrels per day of production capacity.

According to Rosenthal, pipe rack construction is complete, equipment installation at the central processing facility is progressing and the onshore and offshore pipelines are installed. Conversion of the floating storage and offloading vessel is nearing completion with major equipment installed and commissioning ongoing.

Two rigs are operational and the first 20 wells have been drilled.

Currently, Cepu block is producing 29,000 BOPD.

Exxon Mobil holds 45% interest in Cepu block.
