US super major Exxon Mobil Corp. will drill one wild cat well in its Mandar and Surumana deepwater exploration blocks in the first quarter of this year, a company official said on Wednesday.
ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia senior official Maman Budiman said that the exact location of the well will be decided after evaluation is completed.
Maman said Exxon will spend around US$100 million to drill the well.
The well would be the third well the company drilled in both blocks after Rangkong-1 in Surumana and Sultan in Mandar. Despite reports that both wells are dry or uneconomic, Maman said evaluation on the wells? potential and structure are still ongoing.
Exxon has 80 percent interest in both blocks with Malaysian firm Petronas has the remaining balance. (bernard)
