Exxon to resume exploration drilling in Cepu

US super major Exxon Mobil Corp. will drill three exploration wells at its Cepu giant oil, gas block in the border of Central and East Java this year.
ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia senior official Maman Budiman said the Company will start with Alas Tua West well in March, followed by Alas Tua Timur and Kedung Keris wells.
Maman said that Cepu block is now producing 18,000 barrels of oil perday out of installed capacity of 20,000 BPD for the first phase.
He also said that the Company has been cleared to hold the first package of EPC tender to develop the block to its installed production capacity of 165,000 BPD. Winner is expected to be named in 2011 with works completed in 33-36 months, he said.
Exxon divides EPC works into five packages and tendering for other four packages will wait for approval from upstream oil, gas authority BMIGAS.(godang)
