Indonesian unit of US oil, gas giant ExxonMobil Corp. is evaluating possibility to bring its old gas discovery offshore Aceh into production, a company official said on Thursday.
ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia (EMOI) Vice President Maman Budiman said that the old discovery was located in North Sumatra Offshore PSC and believed to contain 200BCF of gas. At that time, said Maman the discovery was considered uncommercial.
?Currently, we are evaluating possibility to develop the field,? said Maman.
EMOI operates the Arun Field, the South Lhoksukon A and D, Pase A and B onshore fields, as well as North Sumatra Offshore (NSO) offshore gas field. Production from the fields, which are declining due to reserves depletion, is supplied to Arun LNG plant.
Maman said currently production from Aceh fields was 680MMCFD, declining from 750MMCFD last year.(godang)
