ExxonMobil eyeing Java exploration block

US oil firm ExxonMobil Corp. is seeking to acquire an exploration block onshore Central Java called Kendeng, a government official said.
The official, who declined to be named, said that the company has proposed to the government to conduct joint study on the block. Joint study is a prerequisite to obtain an exploration block through ?direct offer? mechanism.
ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia official declined to comment on the matter. (godang)
