ExxonMobil finds gas indication in Alas Tua Timur

ExxonMobil has drilled its Alas Tua Timur exploration well, in its Cepu giant oil and gas block at the border of Central and East Java, up to about 9,700 feet and found an indication of gas in Kujung structure, according to upstream authority BPMIGAS.

Hadi Prasetyo, representative of BPMIGAS to ExxonMobil noted that the drilling was aimed at finding out reserve potentials at the well. ?The well is currently under temporary plug abandon (TPA),? Hadi told Petromindo.com in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The Alas Tua Timur well is one of three exploration wells the company had planned to drill in the near future. The other two wells are Alas Tua and Kedung Keris wells.

At present, Cepu block is producing 18,000 barrels of oil per day out of installed capacity of 20,000 BPD for the first phase.
