ExxonMobil hopes amendment of the environmental impact assessment (Amdal) for the Banyu Urip field in Cepu block, East Java, can be approved by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry this month to allow for planned higher production.

This was said by Vice President for Public and Government Affairs at ExxonMobil Indonesia, Erwin Maryoto to Petromindo.com on Wednesday.

Erwin said earlier that that his company together with upstream authority SKK Migas continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, which is evaluating the revision of the Amdal document.

"Regarding the revision of Amdal for Banyu Urip, public consultations in Bojonegoro were conducted in May and inputs from public consultations have been included in the document (of Amdal)," he said.

According to him, the aim of the Amdal revision is to meet the target of producing above 200,000 bopd, normally and sustainably, after the completion of the current high rate test.

He added that ExxonMobil is currently continuing to conduct a high rate test with an average production rate of 200,000 bopd from Banyu Urip field.

ExxonMobil through subsidiary ExxonMobil Cepu Limited (EMCL) is the operator of the Cepu block.
