ExxonMobil names new president director

US giant oil and gas company ExxonMobil has appointed Richard J. Owen as its new President Director and General Manager of ExxonMobil operations in Indonesia. Owen replaces Terry McPhail who entered retirement in December 2011.
Prior to arriving in Indonesia, Richard J. Owen was Managing Director of both ExxonMobil Production Deutschland GmbH and ExxonMobil Erdgas-Erdol GmbH in Germany. Owen has spent almost 30 years in various positions with increasing responsibility within ExxonMobil around the world.
Richard Owen will be responsible for overseeing all activities of ExxonMobil affiliates in Indonesia and will be seeking to apply his significant business experience to drive the organization to even more successes in the coming years, ExxonMobil said in a media statement.
ExxonMobil is currently conducting exploration activities in four new exploration blocks, which were awarded during the period of 2006?2009. The four blocks are Surumana and Mandar Blocks, both located in the deep waters of Makassar Strait; Gunting Block in onshore East Java; and Cendrawasih Block located in deepwater offshore Papua. These exploration blocks are valuable additions to ExxonMobil?s extensive portfolio in Indonesia.
At present there are around 850 employees working with ExxonMobil affiliate companies in Indonesia. Almost 90 percent are Indonesian, serving in varying capacities including senior managers, engineers, geo-scientists, field operators, accountants, lawyers and administrators.
