State oil and gas company Pertamina, the Indonesian military (TNI) and American oil and gas company ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia Inc are holding an emergency meeting in Medan, North Sumatra to determine whether the American company will resume its repair works at its Arun fields in Aceh, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said on Tuesday.

"I am still waiting for the results of the meeting," Purnomo told reporters Tuesday afternoon on the sidelines of the deliberation of the oil and gas bill at the House of Representatives.

The emergency meeting is being held following a bomb explosion near ExxonMobil's gas fields Monday morning.

Purnomo confirmed that ExxonMobil had stopped some repair works at the gas fields following the incident.

The repair works were carried out as part of the preparation for the company to resume its gas operation in the area that had been stopped since March.

The stoppage of gas production forced Pertamina's liquefied natural gas (LNG) subsidiary PT Arun NGL Co to stop its LNG production.

Meanwhile, a source at Pertamina told Petromindo.Com Tuesday afternoon that TNI's chief of general affairs Lt. Gen. Djamari Chaniago planned to visit Arun on Wednesday to assess the overall security conditions in the area following the bomb explosion. (Alex/Godang)
