ExxonMobil resumes gas production from Cluster III

Indonesian upstream oil and gas authority BPMIGAS said on Thursday that Cluster III had been back online on ExxonMobil?s Arun gas field in Aceh, but Cluster IV was still being shut down until Saturday.

BPMIGAS deputy chairman in charge of operations Trijana Kartoatmodjo said that the opening of Cluster III lessening potential reduction from 300MMCFD earlier to 150 MMCFD.

?The partial shut down has no impact yet on LNG operations or gas supply to fertilizer plant PIM,? said Trijana.

ExxonMobil?s Arun gas fields normally produces 1.3BCFD of natural gas, most of which are supplied to Arun natural gas liquefaction. Arun NGL supplies LNG to South Korea, Japan and Taiwan.

On March 23, 2005, a condensate leak was identified from a pipeline located between Cluster 3 and 4 at Arun Field area of operations, forcing ExxonMobil to temporarily shut down gas production from both clusters. (godang)
