US oil and gas giant ExxonMobil Corp confirmed Friday that it had resumed gas operations in cluster I, II and IV gas fields in the troubled province of Aceh.

?Three Arun fields are currently producing, but, in order to make sure that production operations are stabilized, we have prepared measures for anticipating occasional production interruption due to mechanical difficulties,? Julia Tumengkol, ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia?s spokesperson told Petromindo.com.

?This is a normal situation in the restart of a production operations facilities that has been closed for a prolonged period, ? added Julia.

According to Julia, the current production of Arun's three onshore gas fields is around 47 million standard cubic feet per day (MMCFD), while North Sumatra Offshore (NSO) gas field produces 330 MMCFD, making the total current gas production 800 MMCFD.

ExxonMobil temporarily halted Cluster I and II gas production in September 22, due to fire.

Julia did not say when Cluster III would be re-operated, but an official of state and gas company Pertamina said earlier that repair was underway and expected that it would be able to resume operation ?soon?. (alex)
