The gas from the gas fields in Aceh owned by ExxonMobil will start flowing into the Arun-Belawan gas pipeline owned by PT Pertagas, a subsidiary of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero), on Nov. 2 of this year, according to a top official of Pertagas.

?ExxonMobil is repairing facilities. Thus, the gas wells are being shut down. They will start sending the gas into our pipe on Nov. 2,? President Director of Pertagas Hendra Jaya told Petromindo.com.

Until recently, Exxon sent its gas to the Arun LNG plant to be processed into LNG. But, the LNG plant has stopped operation after sending its last cargo to South Korea on Oct. 15.

Exxon operates two blocks in the region, namely Block B PSC, which includes the Arun field, and the North Sumatra Offshore (NSO) PSC, which both expire in 2018.

He said Pertagas will get 50 mmscfd of gas from the blocks which be entirely channeled to PLTGU Belawan combined cycle power plant in North Sumatra owned by state owned electricity firm PT PLN.

"Currently, the construction of the pipeline has been completed and it is now undergoing tests. Gas will start to come into the pipeline on Nov. 2 as part of the commissioning phase," he said.
