Gas projects of ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia Inc. (EMOI) in Aceh are running normally despite the declaration of a six-month martial law that allows military operation in the province, a senior government official said Monday.

?ExxonMobil?s operations in Aceh are continuing as usual. However, security for them have been increased,? said Rachmat Sudibjo, chairman of upstream oil and gas authority BPMIGAS.

EMOI, the Indonesian unit of U.S. petroleum and petrochemical giant ExxonMobil Corp, operates several gas fields in Aceh. It supplies gas to area liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant, which is operated by PT Arun NGL Co.

The Indonesian government on Sunday midnight declared martial law in Aceh and authorized a military operation after last-ditch peace talks in Tokyo with separatist leaders from Free Aceh Movement (GAM) failed. (godang)
