The state-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina and PT ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia have to temporarily shut down the North Sumatra Offshore (NSO) gas field in Aceh province for maintenance work, Pertamina production sharing management director Effendi Situmorang said Tuesday.
Effendi said that the 10-day shut down of the three-month old gas operation had started five days ago.
But effendi said that the temporary shut down would not affect the planned two LNG shipments to Japan and three to South Korea in September because ExxonMobil was currently making preparation to be able to resume full operation of the cluster III and IV latter this month.
ExxonMobil halted its gas operation in Aceh in March due to security problem. The company resumed partial gas operation (Cluster I and II) in July.(*)
