State oil and gas company Pertamina?s president Baihaki Hakim said he was optimistic ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia Inc, the Indonesian unit of American energy giant ExxonMobil Corp, would resume its gas operation in Aceh in two weeks.
?I am optimistic that in two weeks, we can resume the operation of at least 25 percent of the gas field capacity,? Baihaki was quoted by Detik.Com as saying on Monday.
The American company was expected to resume the full operation of its gas fields in Lhok Sukon by end of July, Baihaki added.
ExxonMobil suspended its gas operation in Lhok Sukon since March due to security harassment from armed groups believed to be members of the Free Aceh Movement, who has been fighting for years to gain independence for the Aceh province. The action forced nearby PT Arun NGL Co to stop its LNG production and exports to South Korea and Japan. (*)
