Harry J. Longwell, the chairman of the United States-based ExxonMobil, promised that the oil and gas giant?s Indonesian unit ExxonMobil Indonesia would be able to operate its gas fields in North Aceh at a full production capacity by December, this year.

?We need time to operate at a full capacity, particularly in rebuilding LNG equipment and working together with buyers to operate according to their demand,? he told reporters after a meeting with Indonesia?s President Megawati Sukarnoputri during her visit in Houston on Sunday.

Longwell said that the production of ExxonMobil Indonesia in the North Aceh gas fields had reached above the half of the existing capacity, and ? we hope we will be able to reach a full capacity in December.?

ExxonMobil Indonesia resumed the operation of its gas fields early August after being closed for almost three moths due to security reasons. Some of its buyers had shifted their orders to other LNG producers due to the production closure.

Total production capacity of ExxonMobil?s onshore and offshore gas fields reach about 1.6 billion standard cubic feet per day.

According to Longwell, the security has no longer become a problem for the gas production, and all issues related to security will be handled by the Indonesian government.(*)
