East Kalimantan-based coal miner PT Fajar Bumi Sakti (FBS) said that its coal output increased 20 percent to 118,000 tons in the first half of the year from 90,000 ton in the same period of last year.

Coal sales in the first half of the year reached 112,900 tons, a company official, who wanted to remain anonymous, told Petromindo.Com on Thursday.

The company has targeted to produce between 20,000-25,000 tons per month.

FBS’s mine produces coal with calorific value of 6,700 Kcal/kg and the coal is entirely sold to trader Glencore AG under a long-term contract, which is subject to revision every year, the official said.

FBS has a 1,000-hectare coal concession in Loa Ulung, Kutai Kartanegara regency, East Kalimantan. The concession holds indicated coal reserves totaling around 14.5 million tons. (denny)
