Farmers blockade coal road in East Kalimantan

Dozens of farmers blockaded on Thursday the road of coal transportation firm PT Tanito Harun in Bloro village, Sebulu sub district, Kutai Kertanegara district, East Kalimantan, after the company failed to pay land compensation, the Kaltim Post daily reported.
The paper said that the Samarinda Court had ordered Tanito to pay some Rp 706 million (US$1=Rp 9,300) in land compensation.
"We are just demanding our rights. Because Tanito doesn't fulfill it, we have to make the road blockade. Until our demand is fulfilled we'll not open the road," said Masrun, one of the protesting farmer. (*)
