The government has approved the feed in tariff for electricity produced from solar power plants at 25 US cents per kWh, according to Director General of New and Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Rida Mulyana.
Rida said that the government also plans to provide additional price incentive of 5 cents per kWh if the solar power plant project utilizes 40 percent local component.
The government is determined to push for development of solar power plants as part of efforts to intensify the production of new energy sources to reduce the country?s dependency on the costly petroleum-based fuel.
