Ferrostaal signed an EPC contract in June to expand a gas-fired power plant, owned by an Indonesian company P.T. Cahaya Sakti, in Tarakan, East Kalimantan.

The company said in a press statement on Thursday that the new power plant would have a generation capacity of 25 MW and was scheduled to begin operation in 2014. ?We are expanding the plant together with our local company in Indonesia,? said Kay Hanns Ewaldsen with the executive board of Ferrostaal GmbH.

?Our services will be in the areas of project management, engineering and delivery of the new turbine, as well as in construction and commissioning of the plant,? he added.

The turbine will be installed on the existing site and will operate independently of the existing plant. The plant will be fed with gas channeled through the existing pipeline infrastructure. The new turbine will be responsible for the main operations of the plant and will guarantee that electricity is constantly available.
