ASX-listed Finders Resources Limited announced Tuesday that its 3,000 tons per annum commercial solvent extraction / electrowinning plant (3Kt Plant) on Wetar Island, Maluku Province, commenced cathode production on 31 March 2014. The plant is processing solution from heaps of newly stacked ore.

First cathode is expected by mid-April with the first shipment of copper expected to leave site by the end of the month, the company said in a statement.

Berry Cahill, Managing Director of Finders Resources, welcomed the milestone. ?We are pleased to be plating copper again on Wetar Island. The team on site has done a great job with the expansion and commissioning of the 3Kt Plant. The cathode produced will provide cashflow and momentum as Finders proceeds with financing and then commences construction of the main 25,000 tons per annum plant.?
