The Wetar Island copper cathode project in Maluku Province continued to see significant activity as Finders Resources Limited moves to expand and refurbish the existing demonstration plant. Work is underway on both streams - plant upgrade and earthworks and mining.
The ASX-listed Finders said in a statement received on Wednesday that work to upgrade the plant from 5 tpd to 8 tpd includes adding four additional cells to the existing tank-house, fabricating and installing an additional wash settler, reconfiguring the crushing circuit and upgrading the rectifier and pumps.
Where possible, items such as cathodes, anodes, pumps, wash settler and busbars for the SXEW plant have been sourced from the Whim Creek plant which was purchased by Finders in 2009. It is currently in storage in West Timor. The rectifier was previously purchased and imported into Indonesia.
